With a unique blend of in-house studio and consulting expertise on both business and creative production levels, Mr. Brown strengthens clients’ business acumen and creative IP development and production capabilities to position them for global success. He excels at orchestrating strategic corporate alliances, production financing, and international co-production and distribution opportunities. Brown has also assisted production companies in their transformation from a work-for-hire business structure, to self-owned IP managing entities.
Regis Brown currently serves as Deputy Managing Director of Genting Studios, a member of the Genting Group, one of Asia’s leading and best managed multinationals. His mission is to establish Genting Studios as a premium content creator, capable of developing, producing and distributing original intellectual property. Genting Studios’ original CG productions are targeted to the children’s and all-family audience for film, television, and digital platforms as well as Genting’s myriad of global venues, including theme parks, resorts, casinos, cruise lines, and experiential retail environments.
Previously, Brown was under contract with Comcast NBCUniversal Brand Development. In this assignment, Brown provided strategic direction and industry-related expertise as Universal formulated its production, distribution, and financing strategies for a new children’s and all-family television division.
Brown also dedicated six years as an executive advisor to Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), a media industry development initiative funded by the Malaysian Government. Brown was instrumental in helping shape Malaysia’s media policy, and connecting Malaysian media companies to the global film, television and gaming industries.
Prior to his assignment with MDeC, Brown spent over fifteen years building world-class film and television distribution businesses for independent production studios in North America, Europe and Asia. Beneficiaries included Film Roman, Sunwoo Entertainment, Taffy Entertainment, and Entara Ltd. As a result of these initiatives, Brown successfully established and managed a full spectrum of global content distribution services.
Brown began his entertainment career as a film exhibitor while attending The Pennsylvania State University. He graduated in 1987 with a B.S. in Business Logistics from the School of Business Administration, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment. Early assignments included Cannon Films, MGM, Pathe, New World, Trans Atlantic, and RKO Pictures, where Brown mastered all aspects of the entertainment business, including development, pre-production, production, post-production, and the marketing and distribution of film and television.
